WHEN TO GO TO THE ENDOCRINOLOGIST

Manifestations of endocrine diseases depend on which gland is involved in the pathological process. Sometimes we can talk about the simultaneous defeat of several endocrine organs. If you have reason to suspect that the cause of the ailment is a violation of the functioning of the organs of the endocrine system, an appointment with an endocrinologist should not be postponed.

The most common symptoms:

  • feeling of "coma in the throat" and an increase in the circumference of the neck in its lower part, trembling of the hands, increased anxiety, irritability;

  • palpitations, headaches and high blood pressure, sweating, feeling hot;

  • hypertension at a young age, difficult to treat according to standard schemes;

  • causeless fatigue, daytime sleepiness, constant feeling of weakness, memory impairment, chilliness;

  • depression, mood swings;

  • a sharp change in weight, increased appetite;

  • dry mouth, thirst, frequent urination, skin itching, recurrent thrush, sudden and rapid weight loss;

  • swelling;

  • deterioration and hair loss;

  • severe course of urolithiasis;

  • violation of the menstrual cycle and prolonged infertility - are the reason for contacting a gynecologist-endocrinologist.

TREATMENT OF ENDOCRINE DISEASES

Treatment of endocrine pathology is aimed at normalizing the production of hormones and achieving remission, that is, persistent positive changes in the state of health.

For these purposes, hormone therapy is used:

  • replacement, when hormones are introduced from the outside in order to compensate for their deficiency in the body;

  • suppressive, when one hormone is administered to suppress the production of another hormone;

  • stimulating, more often with the aim of activating the peripheral endocrine glands;

  • pharmacodynamic, to influence individual body systems in the absence of endocrine pathology.

Timely consultation  by an endocrinologist will help to avoid the most severe consequences and allow treatment to begin even when it is easy to achieve a quick and significant effect.
