DISEASES TREATED BY A GASTROENTEROLOGIST

The gastroenterologist is in charge of diseases of the digestive system and conditions accompanied by dysfunction and digestive insufficiency of the digestive tract (including diseases of an infectious, toxic and neurological nature).

The most common ones are:

  • reflux esophagitis;

  • gastritis;

  • peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum;

  • duodenitis;

  • enteritis and enterocolitis;

  • colitis;

  • hepatitis;

  • biliary dyskinesia;

  • cholecystitis;

  • pancreatitis,

  • intestinal dysbacteriosis and accompanying digestive disorders;

  • irritable bowel syndrome;

  • celiac disease or gluten-dependent enteropathy.

SYMPTOMS FOR WHICH A GASTROENTEROLOGY CONSULTATION IS RECOMMENDED

An appointment with a gastroenterologist is necessary if the following symptoms appear:

  • frequent heartburn after eating;

  • swallowing disorder;

  • hoarseness not associated with ENT diseases;

  • belching sour and bitterness in the mouth;

  • belching air and bad breath;

  • heaviness and pain in the abdomen;

  • discomfort in the abdomen, not associated with eating;

  • stool disorders: constipation, diarrhea;

  • frequent bloating, rumbling in the abdomen;

  • deterioration of the skin, hair and nails;

  • weight loss not related to diet;

  • pallor of the skin, dizziness, weakness, low blood hemoglobin;

Do not hesitate,   sign up for a consultation with a gastroenterologist at the first manifestations of such symptoms. Modern medicine is able to recognize many diseases of the gastrointestinal tract at an early stage.

COMFORTABLE DIAGNOSIS OF GASTRIC DISEASES BY BLOOD TEST

Gastropanel is a screening study that identifies possible gastroenterological pathologies. This laboratory study is reliable and highly accurate, which allows you to identify threats, risks, susceptibility to diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as dangerous conditions and complications before their clinical manifestations.

What is included in the screening:

  • Antibodies to Helicobacter pylori. The norm is < 30 units.

A very important indicator that can tell a lot about the condition of your stomach mucosa. The HP bacterium provokes the development of chronic gastritis, ulcers and stomach cancer. It damages the mucous membrane, as a result of which vitamin B12, which plays an important role in the proper functioning of the nervous system and blood formation, is hardly absorbed in the body.

  • Pepsinogens I and II (PGI and PGII). Norm PGI = 20-130 mg / l. These are hormones synthesized by the glands of the stomach and duodenum. These indicators in the gastropanel help to determine the condition of the gastric mucosa. Depending on the type of disease, these indicators will change, and a competent doctor of our center will be able to decipher them and draw conclusions.

  • Gastrin level - 17 (G17). Norm G17 \u003d 6–45 pmol / l. Gastrin is a hormone that influences the secretion of hydrochloric acid. If, after donating blood, the level of gastrin is 17 higher or lower than normal, then this indicates atrophic gastritis or gastritis with high acidity.

Indications for the study:

  • Pain in the stomach

  • Discomfort after eating

  • Feeling of heaviness and bloating

  • Frequent urge to vomit, nausea

  • Heartburn, bitterness in the mouth

  • Autoimmune diseases

  • Iron deficiency anemia, etc.

The study is recommended for early diagnosis of chronic gastritis. Based on the results of the analyzes, it is possible to assess the severity of the course of the disease, the localization and nature of the pathological process.

  • Diagnosis is prescribed for the development of anemia of unknown etiology. It allows you to differentiate and exclude those gastroenterological pathologies that can cause anemia.

  • Often, the study is performed on patients who are contraindicated in endoscopic examination of the stomach or who are not ready to undergo gastroscopy.

Based on the results of a complex of blood tests, the risk of developing oncological, ulcerative, atrophic, and inflammatory processes is predicted, and the nature of the identified changes is assessed.
